August 28, 2006Little Rock, AR: The 2006 college football season kicked off this past
weekend, and with it, SportStar Management announced today at the LR
Touchdown Club luncheon that it has reached a multi-year agreement to
represent the Gulf South Conference.
The goals include developing corporate sponsorships for the league’s
Thursday night GSC-TV LIVE television package, as well as for all
championship events for men’s and women’s sports.
Gordon Heiges, President of Gordon Media Group, parent company to
SportStar issued this statement: “We are very excited about our new
partnership with the Gulf South Conference and look forward to developing
it in the future.”
GSC Commissioner Nate Salant was “delighted.”
“We believe we’ve finally found the right marketing firm to build the
foundation of corporate sponsors that a league of our size and visibility
deserves,” Salant said. “We have more than 83,000 undergraduates and
500,000 living alumni, most of whom have stayed in the Southeast. Many
of our schools are in major markets or their suburbs, so we are an ideal
place to spread the word about products and services.”
The Gulf South Conference is comprised of 15 NCAA Division II institutions
– six of which are located in Arkansas: Arkansas Tech,
Arkansas-Monticello, Harding, Henderson State, Ouachita Baptist and
Southern Arkansas. The other schools by state are: Alabama (North
Alabama, West Alabama, Montevallo and Alabama-Huntsville), Georgia
(West Georgia and Valdosta State); Mississippi (Delta State); Tennessee
(Christian Brothers); and, Florida (West Florida). To learn more about the
GSC, please visit www.gulfsouthconference.org.
In addition, SportStar also announced the hiring of Vance Strange Jr., who
resigned his position as Athletic Director at the University of Central
Arkansas in May of this year. Strange joined SportStar as VP/Director of
Sales in July.
“We are equally as excited to have Vance be a part of our sales
management team. His experience in collegiate athletics will help lead
SportStar to new heights,” Heiges said.
SportStar Management also represents the American Taekwondo
Association for sponsorship sales for the ATA World Championships which
are held annually in Little Rock, Arkansas. For more information please
