Gordon Heiges, President, has had over 35 years of experience in the radio and television broadcasting and advertising industry prior to establishing SportStar Management.

He came to Conway in 1979 to establish KMJX Magic 105 radio with Coastal Communications where he served as Vice President. Since then he has held various management positions in the broadcast business with companies such as Clear Channel Communications, Citadel Communications, Cornerstone Broadcasting and as VP and COO of Equity Broadcasting's radio division.

Mr. Heiges has served as President of the Central Arkansas Radio Association and past President of the Arkansas Broadcasters Association.


Vance Strange, Vice President and Director of Sales, A native of San Francisco, CA, Vance came to Arkansas in 1960 where he received his BA at Hendrix College majoring in Accounting and Economics.

In 1963 he started teaching and coaching in Conway Public Schools. In 1965 he was invited to serve on the faculty and coach at his alma mater Hendrix College. During his tenure at Hendrix he received a Masters Degree in Political Science from the University of Central Arkansas. In 1968 he moved to The University of Central Arkansas as a teacher and coach. During this time he received his second Masters Degree in Physical Education. In 1970 he was hired as a professor and defensive coordinator at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, AR. In 1972 he was offered a job at Austin College in Sherman, TX as a professor and Assistant Football Coach and Head Swimming Coach. He was called back to the University of Central Arkansas in 1974 to coach again for the Bears.Vance got out of coaching in 1978 and went to work for J. A. Riggs Tractor Company, the Caterpillar Dealer for Arkansas. His duties at Riggs ranged from Territory Salesman, Marketing Director, General Sales Manager and Vice President of Corporate Development.

After 26 years with Riggs he retired in January 2003 and stayed that way for 3 months when he went back to work as the Director of Athletics for the University of Central Arkansas. In May of 2006 he retired from UCA and went to work with SportStar Management.


James "Snuffy" Smith is a 32 year radio broadcast sales and management veteran having worked for some of the nations leading broadcast corporations. His profile includes broadcasting positions held in New York, Chicago, Dallas, New Orleans, Milwaukee, Memphis, Phoenix, and Little Rock.

He has held marketing and promotions positions with New York City based RCA Music Corporation and Hush Entertainment Management. While working within the music and entertainment industry, he's helped to shape the careers of some of the world's top entertainment and professional sports figures.

Needless to say, he has an extreme passion for family, sports and entertainment.
